President: Politics to show courage

The President declared that it is unimaginable that from a state on the brink of losing its existence, today Albania is an ally of the USA in the biggest alliance of peace and security.

“We are grateful to all NATO countries, especially the USA. I have felt as a politician and as a citizen the extraordinary care for curing this friendship and for achieving this democracy that we enjoy together today”, the President declared.

Topi mentioned the current Albanian political reality, saying that the Albanians appear in public as followers of the western values, but not all of their actions and decisions are consistent with these democratic standards. The ambiguous behavior, with a great difference between speech and deeds, should have been by now a characteristic gone with the transition. We often hear someone saying that the Albanian citizens are some steps ahead the politics for the vision and sacrifices they are doing for recovering the lost time”, Topi declared.

Topi declared that the Albanians deserve to be heard, and their will should be respected.

“We must widen our political products, instead of limiting their spaces for the future”, he said.

Topi emphasized the fact that Albania is a country that inspires for the EU integration and deserves a new political behavior, a new way of thinking and acting.

I appeal today all political actors, those who have been assigned or that have been elected to represent the people’s will, to show courage and responsibility in their political and institutional behavior for putting the citizens’ agenda on any other political agenda, and for putting into practice the principles and values of the democracy in which we believe”, the President declared.

The head of the Albanian state declared that politics should serve to the citizens and the country’s interests.
