President: Parties to cooperate in Parliament

One day after what was called a blocking of the agreement between the
Democratic and Socialist parties for passing the qualified majority
laws, the Albanian President, Bamir Topi, appealed from Erseka for
Parliamentary cooperation.

“It is obligatory for the parties to cooperate intensively there where the laws are made, where the debates are held and where most of the European Commission recommendations are fulfilled. I am convinced that this cooperation will continue. I wish that it will keep on without any flaws”, Topi declared.

As for the recent declarations of Prime Minister Berisha about the political involvement of the President, the Head of the Albanian State asked to clarify this issue once and for all.

“I believe that this will be the final answer. For as long that I will be the President of the Albanian Republic, I will continue to implement my Constitutional obligations with seriousness and correctness. Any insinuation is useless. In a democratic country, everyone is free to exert his legal and constitutional activity according to his wishes”, Topi declared.

“I don’t believe that there is the need to repeat this answer each time that I meet the journalists. I have already said that I will work until the last day of my mandate. Don’t address this question anymore, please. I will be very careful to not confuse my position as President with my obligations. After the mandate will be over, it will be up to me to say what I will do and where will I be. The time of monism is over”, he underlined.

After meeting the local administration leaders of Erseke, the President decorated Petro Nini Luarasi and Jani Vreto with the order Honor of the Country, post mortem, and instrumentalist Xhemal Dalipi with the “Golden Naim Frasheri” order.
