The President of the European Commission, Ursula Von der Leyen has arrived this afternoon in the capital of Albania, where she was received in an official ceremony by Prime Minister Edi Rama.
Von der Leyen starts today the annual tour of visits to the countries of the Western Balkans.
She is currently holding a meeting with Prime Minister Edi Rama and later they will appear before the media in a press conference.
Prime Minister Edi Rama and the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen will also participate in the opening ceremony of the “College of Europe”.
Ursula von der Leyen finds Albania with an advanced step towards EU membership, after the second intergovernmental conference and the opening of the first chapter a few days ago in Luxembourg.
In her last visit to Tirana on October 15 of last year, von der Leyen presented the growth plan for the Western Balkans through a 6 billion Euro package.
During this tour in the Western Balkans, the President of the European Commission is expected to convey messages of ecouragement in EU expansion to the 6 countries of the Western Balkans.
