The President of Albania, Ilir Meta, attended the first meeting of the Diaspora Coordination Council, also attended by PM Edi Rama, State Minister for Diaspora, Pandeli Majko, and the New York municipal council member, Mark Gjonaj, together with other representatives of the Albanian Diaspora.
The first meeting of this Coordinating Council was held on the World Day of Emigration, which is also declared the Diaspora National Day in Albania.
President Meta praised the State Minister for the Diaspora for establishing this structure of utmost importance, which makes a real identification of problems and also brings propositions for solutions.
“The history of Albania has taught us that the Diaspora has been key in our nation’s decisive moments, such as the declaration of independence and other advancements of our national issues”, Meta declared.
