President, honors for anticommunist resistance

The Albanian President, Bamir Topi, decorated today a group of citizens,
some of them post mortem, for their merits in the resistance against
the communist regime and for their contribution in the democratic
movements.

Present in this ceremony was the Ombudsman, Igli Totozani, directors of the Pan-Albanian Association for the Integration of Politically Imprisoned and Persecuted People, relatives, members of the President’s cabinet and the Ambassador of Danmark, Karsten Ankjaer Jensen.

Mark Nikolle Sokoli and Gjergj Nikolle Sokoli were declared “Martyrs of Democracy” post mortem, for their sacrifices and resistance against the communist dictatorship. President Topi granted the “Torch of Democracy” medal to Ardian Elezi, for his activity in the democratic movement and his contribution in protecting the rights of the politically persecuted people. With “Medal of Gratitude” for their resistance against dictatorship and participation in democratic movements, President Topi decorated Raif Elezi, Gezim Kalaja, Adrian Kati, Ylli Tasi, Ylli Tabaku, Feim Tamaz Iljazi post mortem and Yllbardh Bodinaku. All those who gave a speech in this ceremony expressed their desire to share this honor with others.
