The Albanian President, Bamir Topi, received this Tuesday the vice
director of the Peace Corpus, Carrie Hessler-Radelet. She was
accompanied by the US Ambassador in Tirana, Alexander Arvizu, and the
director of the Peace Corps in Albania, Hill Denham.

The vice director of the Peace Corpus gave Mr. Topi the “Medal of the Peace Corps”, expressing “her gratitude for the support and cooperation that was given to the volunteer organization led by her”.

President Topi declared that this honor is not only for the individual, but also for the institution.

“The institution is for all Albanians. By honoring me, you have honored all Albanians”, declared President Topi, who appreciated the activity of the Peace Corps in our country as an evidence of the support and help that the US people have given to the Albanian citizens.

The Peace Corps operates in Albania since 1991 and now it has 500 volunteers. This is an important year for the Corps, since it marks its 50th anniversary.
