Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The Justice reform is the main pillar for Albania’s EU integration. This
is the message of the Austrian Parliament Speaker that has arrived to
Tirana in an official visit, marking the first ever visit of a
Parliament Speaker of Austria in our country.
In a special Parliamentary session held in her honor, which Barbara Prammer considered as unique, since the Austrian Parliament doesn’t allow it, she declared that among the reforms that Albania must fulfill for the status, one is the most special of all, the justice reform.
“Friendship demands sometimes to say sincere words and listen to each other. The justice reforms have a special importance for Albania, since this reform is one of Albania’s EU integration pillars. I encourage you to continue the right path in the judiciary reform, on the behalf of your country and your citizens. Certainly, all the 12 priorities are a preliminary condition for the candidate status, and this is clear to all of us, but the justice reform is crucial. Albania and Austria are both hoping that your country to get the EU status and this common goal demands to make a more convincing workn with the European Union and act against this idleness of the enlargement. On the other hand, Albania must show its efforts for the reforms, so that its friend countries will have an easier job”, Prammer declared.
The Austrian Parliamentary Speaker brought her country as an example in this direction. “Only compromise between parties can integrate Albania faster, as it happened in Austria”. She also mentioned on the Parliament floor the plan of her country’s Parliament to bring the weapons of Skanderbeg in Albania for the 100th year of independence after October 15th, an announcement that she made even during the press conference with her homologue, Jozefina Topalli.
The latter valued another project of Prammer for Tirana, which will be held in the next year.
“She offered to hold in Tirana the conference of all women Parliamentary Speakersn of Europe and beyond. Mrs. Prammer has always been a loved friend of the Albanian Parliament and the Albanians in general, and she wants that Tirana becomes a center of such important international conferences”, Topalli declared.
The Parliament Speaker, Jozefina Topalli, gave to her Austrian homologue a special edition of the Albanian Parliament with the acts of Albania’s foundation from 1912 to 1922. This is a luxury publishing, limited to 200 unique copies that the Parliament Speaker will give to 200 personalities for the 100th anniversary of independence. The first was given to the order of Mother Teresa, who turned a symbol to the Albanians by never denying her origin.
