Pope Benedict 16th will resign on February 28th, as announced from a statement from the Holy Father in Latin.
He explained that he was feeling the burden of his duty and this decision was for the sake of the Church.
The Pope thanked everyone for the love and cooperation and apologized for his defects.
The news was confirmed by Vatican, which says that the new Pope will be appointed soon.
Joseph Ratzinger was born on 16 April 1927 and was elected Pope on 19 April 2005, after the death of John Paul II.
