With appeals for a political solution to the situation in Syria and that
God might turn His eyes to the new leaders of China, among many others,
Pope Benedict XVI addressed to the world on Christmas.

After the traditional message Urbi et Orbi, at Saint Peters Square, the Holy Father pronounced his blessings in 65 different languages.

“Merry Christmas. With the birth of Jesus came to world the love for God and people. This love that we experience in this celebration will lead us towards reflection for the hierarchy of values through which important choices are implemented. It revives the will to find solidarity and gives to everyone the hope that comes from God”, the Pope declared.

“In Jesus met love and truth, justice and peace. The truth came from the soil and justice came from the heavens”, the Holy Father declared.

“This is a good land, a healthy land, free from egoism and any isolation. This land exists even today, in 2012, hence there is hope in the world; a hope even in the most difficult situations”, the Pope declared.

The Head of the Catholic Church underlined the military conflicts in the world, especially the one in Syria, Israel and Palestine, asking for violence to end as soon as possible.
