Pollution from waste management

41 Mayors and heads of communes throughout the country have been
personally fined by the Environment Inspectorate for violating the
Integrated Waste Management law.

Environment Chief Inspector, Ilir Balla, declared that the fines vary from 50.000 to 1 million ALL, for failing to clean and manage the wastes. If the violations will continue, the local leaders will be sued with criminal charges for environmental pollution.

“The law amends refer to the new Waste Management Law that charges with responsibility those who do not implement the environmental conditions and do not clean the territory. As for the fine collecting procedure, with the new law of administration violations, the fines are considered executive orders that cane be sent to court and collected through plaintiff offices”, Ilir Bala declared, as Chief Inspector.

If the heads of communes or municipalities will not implement the law and stay indifferent to the pollution, they will undergo harsher sanctions.
