Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future Albania remains one of the countries with the highest pollution level,
the consequences of which directly affect the citizens’ health.
Although the negative affects in organism can be felt later in life, or could even make life 2 or 3 years shorter, the dermatologists raise the alarm due to the visible effects of pollution in the human skin. Little children are the most risked ones, and they have shown grave symptoms of eczema.
“Recently there have been more cases of pollution related dermatologic diseases. There have been more eczema cases in children, and acnes have also been more severe lately. I think that all these are related with the polluted environment”, declared Ermira Vasili, head of the Dermatology at the University Hospital Center.
A problem at young children is dry skin, and doctors advise mothers to be careful with their clothes.
“The main symptom is the dry skin. Children don’t sleep at night and are very concerned about itches. The mothers should avoid dry skin by using emollients. Children should wear cotton clothes and stay away from polluted areas”, Ermira advises.
For adults, dermatologists recommend more care for the skin, starting with its cleaning and its treatment. But the negative effects of pollution are unavoidable, with serious consequences in our organisms and for a series of incurable diseases.
