Pollo’s tender delays Public Television reforms

Even after eight months, the Commission of Media and Education has been
unable to agree about the selection formula of the eight members of the
Board of Directors. The opposition has not accepted the formula, and
this has caused debates.

“There is no procedural artifice that could withhold the will of a majority. It might sound like a political declaration, but this goes beyond politics. You can keep bringing artificial procedures, but you are wrong. On June 16th of the next year, after making this delay today, you will try to blame us for not finalizing the passage from analogue to digital broadcasts”, declared the Socialist Party Parliament Member, Musa Ulqini.

The vice chairman of the Commission of Media and Education, Alfred Peza, who led this session, declared that the real reason of this delay is related to the 23 million EUR tender held by the former Minister of Innovation, today Chairman of this Commission, Genc Pollo.

“The Albanian public television had started the procedures with the company that won the tender for passing from analogue to digital broadcasting. This tender was appealed at court after you came to power”, declared the Democratic Party Parliament Member, Luciano Boci.

“Mr.Pollo has signed 23 million EUR for this tender, and this is the reason why you are blocking the reform at the Albanian Public Television. This is the reason why you have been blocking the reforms for eight months”, Peza declared.

After this declaration, the opposition Parliament Members have left the room. The former Minister of Innovation, Genc Pollo, has realized a 23 million EUR tender for the digitalization of the Albanian Public television, by violating this way the tender procedures. Socialist Party Parliament Members, Taulant Balla and Alfred Dalipi, has filed a criminal report against Pollo.
