The Minister for Innovation, Technology, Information and Communication,
Genc Polli, appealed all citizens to welcome the population registration
that starts on October 1st.
“The real actors of this process are the citizens, and I appeal each of them to proudly accept the Census and declare the data for themselves and their residences”, Pollo declared.
The registration was strongly opposed by the Red and Black Alliance, which has appealed the population to boycott it. RBA considers it a violation of the international convents for the Albanian Constitution.
Dozens of thousands of citizens signed a petition against the population registration on ethnic and religious bases, but it wasn’t taken in consideration. The Muslim Community also opposed it, expressing it skepticism one day before the Census.
The Muslims declared that it risks destabilizing not only the religious harmony, but also within the family, especially for the religion of the children.
