Political fight for Independence Day

The Chairwoman for the Commission of Media and Education, Valentina
Leskaj, underlined that the government doesn’t have a program for the
100th anniversary of independence.

According to her, although the Independence Day is a few weeks away, the government doesn’t have a program.

“November 28th is coming and we don’t have a program and a budget that should have been prepared one year ago, so that we could avoid spontaneous organizations. There was also a negative approach to the independence figures, and a negative geographical approach to Vlore, where the flag rose”, Leskaj declared.

Mrs. Leskaj underlined that the Vlore Municipality was intentionally left outside the government’s program, and the government is trying to bring up new historical figures and bring down important ones, such as that of Ismail Qemali.

“The works in Vlore were interrupted and it is not only the matter of the budget, for which the Vlore Mayor has made the maximal efforts by inviting businessmen to contribute in the celebration. The behaviour to Vlore shows that the 100th year of independence will be on the centre of interest”, Leskaj said.

On this 100th anniversary, the preparations are spontaneous and have nothing to do with the previous organizations that were held for the 25th anniversary or the 50th anniversary of independence.

Berisha: SP, primitive stance. We have a studied program

Prime Minister Berisha reacted by saying that the opposition’s declarations are a primitive stance, and that Vlore will not be left aside.

“If some figures are getting lower, it’s because some other are coming up, figures such as that of Ismail Qemali”, the government press release declared.

The press release adds that the agenda is among the best studies ones and does not exclude Vlore or any other city. “It will not bring Ismail Qemali’s figure down, but will bring it up with a new statue”, the reaction says.
