The Albanian police will take very seriously the arrest of drunk drivers
and those without a license, even if they will be released by the
Prosecution or Court.
The new Traffic Police Director gave a report about the arrests made in the first 10 days.
“We have arrested 135 people, 27 of whom were driving under the influence of alcohol and 108 did not have a license. 52 were car drivers and 56 motorcycle riders”, declared Ervin Hoxha, Director of Traffic Police.
The Police is determined to keep working with these measures, as a legal obligation that aims to discipline drivers and increase safety.
Hoxha says that the police do not want to fill prisons with drunk drivers and without a license, but to increase the number of accidents.
The police also informs that there will be strict controls about the usage of the safety belt, driving while using a cell-phone and not keeping helmets.
