Parallel to the Prosecution’s investigation for finding the authors of
Judge Skerdelaj Konomi’s murder in the city Vlore, the Interior Control
Service has started an investigation for the way police acted on the
scene.

Sources from the Interior Ministry say that they have seized the videos showing the policemen on the scene, who were staying by the car and were not giving the first aid to the victim, who was still alive.

The videos show two patrol police agents who arrived on the scene a few minutes after the explosion, both of them staying with their backs turned to the victim, speaking on the phone and without taking any action for giving first aid or for securing the scene, in order to preserve any evidence that might had been left by the murderers.

Right after the explosion, the car had not taken fire yet. Bystanders were the only ones who tried to remove from the car the judge who was still alive, while the police agents were seeing everything from some meters away. A total of 25 minutes passed from the moment when the police arrived on the scene and until his body was removed from the car, making his survival impossible. Fire had not broke up yet in those first minutes, but afterwards, the flames damaged the body of the victim even more, since some part of his body was still inside the car.

The judicial processes for the property cases are in the focus of the Prosecution of Serious Crimes, in their efforts for solving the murder of Judge Skerdilajd Konomi. According to the prosecutors, besides the case that had won at the Supreme Court, the Konomi family had another case against some old Tirana inheriting families that resulted of having falsified documents.

Police approaching to Judge Konomi’s killer

Although not completely sure and by using the words “maybe” too often, the General Chief of State Police, Hysni Burgaj, declared that they are working in two investigation leads for solving the murder case of Judge Skerdilajd Konomi in Vlore. Soon enough they might announce the name of the first suspect.

“We are investigating in two leads. There is a maximal attention by the police, under the direction of the prosecution. I think that very soon we might have a name”, Burgaj declared.

But Burgaj’s main intention with this press release was the announcement for the arrest of 15 Albanian citizens in the last days, on behalf of the Italian justice.

These people were arrested in Vlore, Fier, Elbasan, Tirane, Lac and Shkoder, charged for serious crimes in Italy, such as prostitution, drug traffic and organized crime.

“The ratification of the agreement with the Italian Parliament opened way to the arrest of these Albanian citizens that were wanted by the Italian justice. The Police will investigate their real estates, for verifying if everything is according to the law”, Burgaj declared.

All the people that were arrested had been sentenced from 5 to 17 years to prison from the Italian justice. Burgaj warned for other arrest of people who have committed crimes in the neighboring country.
