Police operation destroys 26,000 cannabis plants in Malësi e Madhe mountain areas

A large quantity of cannabis has been found in Malësi e Madhe in northern Albania, where 26,600 seedlings of the banned plant have been discovered.

The police destroyed by burning 6,300 planted seedlings and 20,300 seedlings stored in cubes in the village of Gruemire-Çesme. A 55-year-old with the initials A. D. is one of the main perpetrators identified by the authorities, who is now wanted.

This was the second phase of the police anti-cannabis mega-operation called “Clean Alps”, while the search and detection work is still ongoing.

Based on information intelligence and as a result of the operational plan for the control of the territory, the services of the Malësi e Madhe Police have found in the territory of the village of Gruemirë-Çesme, Malësi e Madhe, planted in an open environment, 6300 suspected cannabis sativa seedlings, as well as 20,300 seedlings stored in cubes, which would be cultivated in the lands, in mountainous areas of Malesi e Madhe.

The saplings planted in the ground and in cubes were destroyed by burning, except for a small part that was seized as material evidence, the authorities announced.
