34.000 plants of cannabis have been eliminated in the deep areas of Shkoder. Shots fired against the police
The state police has started a massive operation against cannabis plantations in deep mountainous Shkoder areas.
The operation is focused in Dukagjin, Pult, Shale, Shoshe and Shllak.
150 police officers and three helicopters are engaged in this operation. The Police Vice Director, Altin Qato, declared that they are combing the entire area, and that the operation will continue, despite the very difficult terrain.
This is considered as the biggest police action ever taken in the mountainous areas of Shkoder.
Bullets have been fired against police officers in some areas, but no one has been hurt.
The operation in Shkoder is part of a pan-national operation for identifying and eliminating the narcotics. Police said it will continue until September 15th.
The General State Police declared for Top Channel a few days ago that the most problematic areas are in the mountainous regions of Kruja, Mat, Tirana, Dukagjin, Vlore River and Kurvelesh, the Tepelena Highlands.
The police has eliminated more than 35.000 plants, and another plantation was found in the Bence river of Tepelena.
The plants were eliminated on the spot, while some were seized as evidence.
Police arrested citizen B.Meta for cultivating narcotics. The materials went to the Gjirokaster Prosecution.
