Police officers arrested for allowing 2.5 tons of cannabis through Customs

The Prosecution of Serious Crimes suspects that there are other police officers who helped 2.5 tons of cannabis go through the Durres Port to Ancona, Italy.

The crime took place in January of this year, but the Prosecution revealed details about this investigation only this Tuesday.

After the arrest of the Fier Vice Chief, Festim Lelaj, who is thought to be the organizer of this traffic, the Prosecution of Serious Crimes ordered the arrest of Gezim Dervishi and Agron Kapllani, two Durres Police officers who allowed the drug to pass through the customs.

The officers did not search the load with drug-sniffing dogs and not even with scanners. The Prosecution thinks that the cannabis may have been cultivated in Dibra, but this is the first time that entire trucks try to get through the customs.
