“Police elite should be discharged”

“Less than this would be enough to shake dust in the police and the Interior Ministry. The most concerning part is that lost trust of the police in terrain and their moral. We all know that this trust is in catastrophic levels, without mentioning the public’s trust on the police”, the expert declared.

According to Shkelzen Rexhepi, no matter how the investigation ends, the Chiefs of Police should have only formal connections with the defendant. The fact that a large arsenal of weapons was found to his possession, and also drugs, compromises his relation with the police leaders.

“There could have been a lack of interest by the police for this person, although the officers were obliged to coordinate with the state police and give information about this person. It is unforgivable that the necessary verifications are not made, because the suspect is not a normal person, but with a high public profile. He is the vice president of a football club and he has shares in several businesses”, Rexhepi declared.

He says that the police leaders should had resigned from the investigation of this case before the photos had emerged, due to the conflict of interest.

The former Police officer adds that the Interior Inspection Service, which directly depends from the Minister, is guilty for not trying to prevent i.

“IIS should have investigated the threats made against the victim, because the information about those threats was public and they had the necessary information”.

The photos of the main leaders of the Albanian police with the suspect are making more and more people saying that they should be removed from their duty for not preventing the crime.
