The municipality of Poliçan near Berat had placed an entry checkpoint to the town after the first case with Covid-19 was discovered in Albanian in March. After debates, the beam stopping the entry was removed and replaced with a simple police checkpoint.
But now that the date is May 5th, there are no more stops or police checkpoints here. Poliçan is already a green area, with no cases of Covid-19.
The mayor Adriatik Zotkaj, says that the checkpoint beam was a necessary measure in an extreme situation.
The municipality of Poliçan has about 10 thousand inhabitants, so the movements are small in a normal day, and even smaller in the pandemic situation the country is going through. But after being proclaimed a green area, the citizens have no restrictions of movement within the town.
