The Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, reiterated the appeal for the opposition to join the justice reform.
Rama said that the chances for a consensual solution exist, but the opposition should have a more flexible approach.
“The DP has abandoned what they had accepted earlier about the justice reform. They say the opposition need to defend the system from being captured by one single party. We have offered them a voting with 2/3rd of the Parliament members. No one can control the justice if the opposition has its part”, Rama said.
The Prime Minister added that the government is not interested to capture the justice system, but to rebuild it. The reform foresees to create four new institutions which will vet every single official. And the vetting will be done by qualified majority.
He invited the opposition to the commission and said there is no more time to lose, but also warned that if the opposition will force them to vote the draft on their own, they will vote it without hesitation.
