The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, met today with the French Foreign Minister of Interior.
In a joint press release, Rama guaranteed the French government that the process for stopping asylum seekers will continue.
“We will keep working to make it clear to citizens that the asylum-seeking is not the right way. Albanians are aware that this is an important part of our challenge for opening the accession negotiations and building a serious rule of law”, Rama said.
The French Minister said that Albanians make 20% of the total asylum-seekers in France.
“The Albanian authorities have shown great courage for this matter because it is a very delicate one. Albanian authorities have been very cooperative regarding the returning of asylum seekers”, Collomb said.
