Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, in a joint conference with the Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, said today in Rome that “we want to include Albania in this reinforced strategic cooperation and the private sector”.
“For us, Albania is a strategic partner in the Balkans. As you know, Italy considers the Western Balkans and the relations with the Western Balkans, a priority of our foreign policy and we are absolutely favorable for their admission in the European Union. The joint economic committee, Italy-Albania agreed on several lines of action in three major issues such as infrastructure, energy and the agricultural, agro-food sector”, said Tajani.
Prime Minister Edi Rama focused on the contribution made by Albanian immigrants for years in the Italian economy and the importance of the pension agreement for them.
“We won this solemn promise from the deputy prime minister. All Albanians who live, contribute, have worked and work in Italy, will be able to raise a toast because this government will finally bring this very important initiative to the end, not only financial, but a social point of view of respect and dignity”, said Rama.
As for the Italy-Albania strategic investments, Prime Minister Edi Rama gave this comment:
“They are investments in strategic sectors, in infrastructure, where Italy has played a decisive role. Minister Tajani has personally led a process of freeing Corridor 8 from a long blockage. Then in the field of the railway system, Italy is involved in the construction of the Tirana – Durres railway, but there is still more to do. We also talked about the railway line not only of Corridor 8, but also the one that connects Durres with Pristina, with Nis and thus with Central Europe”, said Rama.
