Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has announced that “finally” the Agreement on Pensions of Albanians in Italy will be signed.
The Prime Minister received in a meeting the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy, Antonio Taiani, with whom he discussed the pensions agreement.
“Finally, we are ready to sign the long-awaited Pension Agreement for Albanians in Italy”, wrote Rama in a post on the social network “Facebook”.
Discussions on the recognition of the pensions of Albanians in the neighboring country have started in 2021 between the two governments.
Through the agreement, retirement pensions, insurance for sickness benefits, as well as unemployment insurance for both Albanians living in Italy and Italian citizens living and working in Albania, will be covered.
There are about 500,000 Albanian immigrant citizens who live and work in the neighboring country, who are expected to benefit from the recognition of the pension system between the two countries.
