Prime Minister Edi Rama was today on the coast of Dhërmi and Himare, in the south of Albania, where he distributed 789 property titles, in the process of concluding the registration of inherited houses.
Rama said that a third of the process and registration of inherited houses has been completed in Himara Municipality, while adding that ‘a square meter of land today in Dhermi is more expensive than in Corfu’, implying that Dhermi and Himara have flourished in recent years.
“The truth is that the problem of registering inherited houses in these areas is a complicated issue. In technical language, it is about placing the properties on the map and, on the other hand, the placement of the houses so that it fully matches the location on the cadastre map, so that there are no overlaps and conflicts.”
“What has particularly confused this part is what has happened in many years, starting from the 90s and after, when there was a lot of chaos with the papers, with the certificates and where as you know better than I often found 2-3 owners for a property. In this way, a piece of land becomes a source of conflict because there are different contenders who show papers and this comes as a result of malicious actions, but on the other hand also as a result of the poor work of the officials. So they are both sides of this coin.
“The Prefecture, the Municipality are available to assist the residents to make their applications properly, which means that the way is opened to make the registration because now all the technical aspects have been completed. It’s just a matter of applying, mapping the property and submitting a certificate proving that this property is a registered real estate. So I am calling on everyone, but I am also asking you to tell all your friends, neighbors, family and anyone around you who you have contact with, who needs or will register the property, to make the application.”
