Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama today attended a press conference with the ambassador of the European Union, Silvio Gonzato, with a focus on the 2024 Progress Report for Albania, where he assessed the country’s progress towards joining the bloc.
“Today is the occasion to repeat that the progress report is the most complete, most detailed, most reliable and most international document that Albania receives.
“Of course, this is an ongoing process, but anyone who really wants to understand and learn where Albania is today in all areas should read this report,” said Rama.
Meanwhile, the leader of the opposition Democratic Party Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, commented on the call of Ambassador Gonzato, who requested that ‘the opposition play its role.’
In a reaction on the “X” network, Bardhi says that the opposition cannot play its role when it does not even have the opportunity to enter the Assembly, while adding that “the truth hidden by beautiful words, does not help Albania”.
“There is a call for the opposition to play its role within the Parliament while its deputies have been expelled from the parliament”, said Bardhi.
“Hiding the reality/truth behind beautiful words does not help Albania! The reality is that the opposition has been expelled from the Assembly, without a law and with a rule that was been abolished 6 months ago by the Constitutional Court.”
“Parliamentarization is based on respect for the Constitution, as the only possibility of coexistence between parties who think differently,” Bardhi wrote further.
