From the annual conference with the ambassadors of Albania in the world, Prime Minister Edi Rama estimated that Albanian diplomacy now “brings respect”, while he emphasized European integration work and benefiting from the EU’s economic package for the region.
“Next year, Albania will host the leaders of 44 European countries at the Summit of the European Political Community. How important it is for us as a small country to be represented with the highest volume of ambition, which gives us the opportunity to host the NATO Summit in 2027, we couldn’t even imagine years ago”, announced the Prime Minister.
After announcing the holding of the European Political Community summit next year in Tirana and that of NATO in our country in 2027, Prime Minister Rama asked the diplomats to avoid euphoria from what has been achieved so far in the field of the country’s international relations.
The Prime Minister asked for the commitment of the ambassadors in making Albania’s ambition in the European family a reality.
“We know very well that 2030 should find us in full readiness to sit at the EU table as equal members of the European family. We must be ready. For this reason, it is absolutely necessary for our diplomatic body to rise to a new level”, said Rama.
Igli Hasani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, said that “our diplomacy is a living, multidimensional organism, designed towards the future”. He warned of a reformation of the ministry he leads.
“Soon, the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs will have a new structure, which, first of all, improves the work and intensifies the relations between the main member parts. Fragmentarism and refractoriness must belong to the past, as well as the mentality of division within this service”, said Hasani.
