The meeting between Prime Minister Edi Rama and Speaker Ilir Meta lasted
for 1 hour and 20 minuets at the Hotel Tirana. Both majority leaders
said that they have officially invited the European Popular Parties to
engage for the dialogue with the opposition.
Mta said that the main purpose of this meeting was increasing their efforts to guarantee free votes for citizens, as the core of an European society.
“We decided to continue the Constitutional procedures for electing the new president, without bringing any candidate yet. We will seek consensus, although this majority has the 90 votes in Parliament. We also decided to address the EPP, where DP is part of, to assist with this dialogue as soon as possible so that this stalemate comes to an end, and so that the country goes to free and fair elections, in order to continue with the European reforms”, Meta said.
Meta said he is ready to meet with Basha, any time he would request it.
