The News Director of “Vision Plus”, Alfred Peza, has declared that a
media should never be deprived of its rights and freedom to broadcast
the truth, but emphasized that the specific type of campaign in Tirana
has brought problems with the pre-edited videos.
“Except for Tirana, the Democratic Party has allowed all televisions and the cameras to cover every other activity. The coverage of the Albanian capital city has a special significance, since Rama runs for Mayor and at the same time he is the leader of the party. For this reason, the coverage of his activities have produced more broadcasting time than Basha”, said Peza.
“I favor the absolute media freedom, but this campaign has problems. One of them is that the main parties and their leaders are not giving any effort to offer to the media the possibility for achieving a just and impartial coverage of any aspect of the campaign”, Peza emphasized.
The editor in chief of MAPO, Skënder Minxhozi, declared that the candidates should allow cameras to cover their activities, in order to perform a true campaign.
“There are dozens of occasions when foreign politicians have faced shocking situations. We agree that the campaign is a race, and every race has it risks, because the environment is not barren. I do not understand what can be so horrible if a merchant goes by and says something inconvenient for your campaign. A pre-edited video material is less worthy than the TV ad for a detergent or an oil prepared by a studio”, Minxhozi declared.
