Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The Mayor of Permet closed the Municipality’s door while the employees
gathered outside. The extreme and demonstrative decision was held for
entirely financial causes.
A big debt owed to the Aqueduct has made the Permet Municipality have no money to pay the employees. According to the Mayor, the debt is not on the Municipality, but the central administration, since it was created when the Aqueduct was not under the Municipality’s administration.
The Ministry of Finances blocked the grant for this trimester to oblige the Municipality to pay CEZ for the Aqueduct’s debt.
The Municipality declared that the blockage of this grant has created difficulties and made the municipality unable to pay the food and heat in kindergartens and schools, and also to pay for the employee and the green space maintenance. The blockage was made with a normative act from the Municipality, which caused many debates in the Parliamentary Commissions of one day ago.
