The leader of the Self-Determination Movement, Albin Kurti, reacted
against the declarations of Deputy Prime Minister Hajredin Kuci who
advised a peace tractate between Kosovo and Serbia.
According to Kurti, Kosovo cannot have a tractate without an army, and that a peace tractate can be considered that of Kumanova, between NATO and the Army of Yugoslavia.
However, Kuci emphasizes that after every conflict between the two states, not it is indispensable to have a peace tractate. Kuci added that Kosovo has created peace with itself and the Serbian citizens, and this is what Serbia should have done.
“What I can say is that Kosovo has passed the survival phase, which came with Kosovo’s freedom, and also the independence phase, which ended on 17 February 2008. Kosovo must win the future peace, the harmony with its citizens and the eternal peace with the neighbors, not by forgetting the enmities of the past, but to create peace for the generations to come. Every country of the world ends conflicts with another country through a peace tractate, and only then peace is significant”, Kuci declared.
As regards resolution 1244, Kuci declared that it is valid until the Constitution will enter i act. “Resolution 1244 has played a role until 15 June 2008, when Kosovo’s Constitution entered in act. Then it became an obstacle for the UNMIK mandate. That resolution was good for its time, and now it is unusable. When a law is no longer appropriate for a people, we change the law and not the people. The Resolution 1244 is not appropriate for Kosovo any longer. The Constitution of Kosovo is valid for the northern territories of the country”.
The EULEX mandate will extend until 2013, if it will be voted in the Kosovo Parliament with qualified majority.
