Payment for disabled people

The Albanian Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, considered as unacceptable the delay of the payment for the disabled people.

Berisha declared that the first cause of this problem is the local administration that has not completed its obligation, and the second reason is that the government has changed the calculations for the energy bill compensation, where the authorities have found unacceptable abuses, according to the Prime Minister.

But focusing his speech on the comparison of the social assistance today and that of 2005, when the Democratic Party came to power, the Albanian Preime Minister declared that the delays do not show a new position of the government regarding the disabled people, whose medical reimbursement has changed from 50 million to 250 million, according to the Prime Minister.

“Not agreeing with the delays caused by some communes and municipalities, I guarantee that nothing can obscure the humane position and dedication of this government to the disabled people. Allow me to guarantee once again that they have always been and will always be in the government’s centre of attention”, Berisha declared.

The Albanian Prime Minister made a detailed summary of the government’s financial support to the disabled people, and mentioned the inclusion of caretakers in this list, which according to the data were not paid for this service in the past.

The Prime Minister noted that this government made the first move to pay for the hygienic and sanitation package of disabled people and increase the support for those who decide to receive education.

“The government is paying five times more than in 2005, if we compare the hygienic-sanitation package, the increased oil and energy price, and the payment of care takers who were not paid in the past, and now are even insured. I think that we have given our maximum, for the standards of this country”, Berisha declared.
