Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The town of Patos has frequently remained without drinking water,
because the electrical cable that charged the Aqueduct pumps was
repeatedly stolen.
One day after the last time when this phenomenon was repeated, the Aqueduct Director, Baftjar Gropa accused the CEZ Company of leaving the town of Patos without water. But one day after this declaration, the Police declared that Baftjar Gropa was wanted as the main suspect for the repeated theft of the cable.
Three other people have been arrested for power abuse, and three others will be under investigation. Police verified that the theft was led by the director himself with the help of other Aqueduct workers. They used the 1 kilometer long copper cable to sell it for scrap material.
