While the US ambassador gave an “ultimatum” to the Albanian political
class regarding the justice reform, comes the first public voice
reminding Donald Lu to not cross the red line of his diplomatic status.
Paskal Milo, the Head of the Social Democracy Party and former Foreign Minister, said that Albania is a sovereign state and a NATO member, and the diplomatic missions should not identify Albania with this political provincialism.
“The US and EU diplomatic missions in Tirana have reason to be tired, disappointed and angry with the Albanian political class and some so-called Parliament Members. They don’t identify Albania and the Albanian people with this political and parliamentary provincialism. I appeal the US ambassador, friend of Albania, to not cross the diplomatic line just because of Berisha’s stubbornness and other ‘vultures’ of Albanian politics, whose wings should have been cut long ago. Albania is and will always be an independent country, a NATO member, whose sovereignty should be respected in all circumstances. I understand the symbolic of his messages and the unusual language, since, that is the language that is understood in this case. But if he is upset by the byzantine intrigues of the Albanian politics, it should not be on expense of the Albanian people. Albania stays above the political parties”, Milo said.
