The opposition left the Commission of Security by not accepting to vote
for establishing an investigative group for the activity of the Secret
Service.
According to the Chairman of this Commission, Flamur Noka, what made them take this decision was the request for a hearing session with the Minister of Defense, Mimi Kodheli, regarding the accusations for the involvement of the army in the drug traffic.
“I don’t want to judge the facts or reasons why the Minister is hiding and doesn’t come for the session. I can say that we cannot hold other meetings for fairy tales like the one of today, without hearing the Minister of Defense about this important case”, Noka declared.
The Head of the Commission, Spartak Braho, declared that they have established a Parliamentary Investigative Commission for this issue.
“The Minister of Defense did not avoid the reporting in Parliament and in front of the Commission. The Minister of Defense was notified after it was to be discussed in a special meeting of the Commission, if she would be summoned or not. And you have been present. The gentlemen left without submitting any request”, Braho declared.
On behalf of the opposition, Noka declared that the establishing of this investigative group is illegal, but this was then opposed by Parliament Members Pirro Lutaj and Luan Rama.
“The government brings the Parliament Members to investigate. They did it yesterday and they brought you today once again. Tell the government that there are normal legal mechanisms for inspections and there is no need to create these commissions”, Noka declared.
“To avoid bad mouths like that of Flamur, who ignore a legal right of the Parliament Members to supervise the work of institutions, article 3 says that the Permanent Commissions may inspect and request documentation for reviewing given cases”, Lutaj declared.
The majority appointed Parliament Members Lutaj, Qefalia and Ndreu as members of the inspection group, and left two vacancies for the opposition members.
