Parliament Speaker invites opposition

The Parliament Speaker Jozefina Topalli invited the opposition to
participate in the Parliamentary session, considering boycott as a
disqualified anachronism.

A few days before the new Parliamentary session, the Parliament Speaker Jozefina Topalli emphasized that the majority is open to cooperate and asked the contribution of all MPs, especially for the reforms.

“We need all MPs in the Parliament. We need to establish the Commission for the Electoral Reform and fulfill our duties. The public interest and the country’s integration are very important and we must join our votes”, Topalli declared.

According to her, no MP should be calm if he doesn’t make his duty, emphasizing that the country needs the opposition.

Brace: We should be in the Parliament

The Socialist Deputy Erion Brace declared that the Socialist Party should have been in the Parliament for opposing the approved laws in the recent months, such as that for the Fiscal Package, which Mr. Brace considers as a camouflage that in fact aims to empty Albanians’ pockets with millions of dollars.

To the question why the opposition’s reaction is fading towards these matters that directly affect the Albanians’ pockets, Brace gave this answer:

“By the start of July, when these laws arrived in the Parliament, the event coincided with the meetings of the SP National Assembly. In those meetings I asked the SP group to return in Parliament, because this was the moment when Sali Berisha was making all economic, financial and political misdemeanors. I want to remind the law for the demolition of the Pyramid, for which we should be at the Parliament, where we should have posed our objections; the law for the Population Registration, which, besides the scandalous content for all Albanians, brought to light a very important fact, that the votes are stolen even among 71 or 70 deputies. There were the laws of the Fiscal Package that deserved a strong contradiction from the opposition, based on the direct interest of the Albanian citizens.”

For the vice leader of the Socialist Parliamentary Group, the Wikileaks cables should serve to the Prosecution for starting the investigations for a series of economic scandals. It also brings to light the need for giving to the opposition the management of the State Supreme Audit institution.

“I have followed the debate for the State Supreme Audit institution, but time has come for this country that those who are not mentioned in the cables as corrupted, mostly belonging to the opposition, should control this institution as a key element for fighting the corruption of our Prime Minister, who doesn’t have even the will and the desire to fight corruption, due to his deep implications. It is time for the opposition to demand the control of the State Supreme Audit not for revenge, but for founding a new culture in that institution, that of the war against corruption. If up to now we have investigated only the way the decisions have been taken, and the procurement of the Rreshen-Kalimash road, now it is the moment for the prosecution to reopen the investigations for the other construction segment and for taking this construction under control”, Brace declared.

The Socialist MP of Berat district raised the concern for the way they are trying to rob the management of the Municipal Councils in this district.

“The local elections are not over yet, because the constitution of the District Councils is in the final phase. The Democratic Party has left the post of the District Head to the Socialist Movement for Integration. They are exerting criminal pressure against the SP councilors”, Brace declared.
