As expected, the Albanian Parliament removed the immunity of the three Socialist MPs, Taulant Balla, Tom Doshi and Besnik Baraj.
The Democratic MP, Viktor Gumi, read the Council of Mandates and Immunities report. The request for lifting their immunities was asked by the General Prosecution, for investigating the organization of the January 21st events.
The Socialist MP, Taulant Balla, underlined that on January 21st he was in front of the Prime Minister’s Office, doing his duty as politician and citizen.
“I was on the boulevard, denouncing the tribal governing, which is corrupted to its roots and branches. The government makes heroes out of killers, but the evils will not be forgotten”, Balla declared, by accusing PM Berisha for the killings of four people on January 21st. Balla asked PM Berisha to give up his immunity and make himself available for the Prosecution’s investigations, and accept his responsibility for the murders of four protesters.
MP Balla left an umbrella as a symbolic gift to the Prime Minister.
The other Socialist MP, Tom Doshi declared that he is one of the organizers of the protests on January 21st.
“When the violence started, I appealed the protesters to stay calm. The crowd was almost dispersed when they were shot from the Prime Minister’s Office”, Doshi declared.
MP Doshi underlined that the goal of the protest was not to attack the Prime Ministry, while he expressed his conviction that he will still be near the protesters for removing Berisha from power.
The third Socialist MP, Besnik Baraj, declared that it is an honor and duty for him to make himself available for the investigations of the January 21st events.
“There’s no country where protesters are shot, because the Police is there to guard the citizens”, Baraj declared.
