In his Parliament speech, The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama,
criticized the opposition about their stances, accusing them of being an
inspiration for increasing crime.
The Prime Minister’s speech was given during a session demanded by the Democratic Party for creating a Parliamentary Commission to investigate the appointments in the State Police, which, according to the opposition, were made against the law.
Rama said that the majority is ready to listen to the opposition, but not against the country’s interest.
“We will listen to you, but we will lead the country in the path that the Albanian people chose, by completing the duties that they tasked us. You will not be able to withhold this country for your interests. You will not withhold it for the sins you committed while in power. You will not be able to withhold justice”, Rama declared.
The Prime Minister accused the opposition of manipulating the public opinion with the crime statistics, by falsely increasing them.
As for the economy, the Prime Minister mentioned the progressive tax, which, according to him, is already giving its fruits. Rama said that the economy is giving signs of growth.
“The economy has given its first sings of life after a long period of chronical death, in which you put it through an electoral craze, and through a huge blindness. February started with more money in the pockets of all employees in the public and private sector”, Rama declared.
Rama added that the government is determined to destroy the economic crime.
“Our fight against crime is against the criminal network and all of its economic structures, which grew in these eight years and the system left it there after being removed from power. It’s a fight against poverty and unemployment, in order to increase the economy”, the Prime Minister declared.
Investigating appointments at the State Police
The opposition’s request for establishing a Parliamentary Commission for investigating the appointments in the State Police has left the Parliament debating for hours.
The majority opposed the commission, saying that it is illegal, since there is no previous precedent for investigating the appointments in the police. They also argue that there are open cases at court against the former police leaders.
Sali Berisha, Democratic Party Parliament Member: “What is the conclusion of our partners in these four months? Two: the State Police doesn’t exist. It has turned into a ministry, and that the police is managing the drugs. These are the conclusions. That’s why we wanted to investigate. To prove that this man, with this horrible crime connection, keeps feeding them and has placed them to work for the law.
Edi Rama: You must always remember that this is a new era. The revival of the State Police, the return of a state that does its duty, and guarantees law and order for every citizen. This is the time to cut the ties of the crime and traffic, and establish a connection of the police with the law.
