The Albanian Parliament approved with all 73 votes of the majority the
changes in the budget of 2011, and as never before, without the vote of the
Prime Minister, who wasn’t present.
These changes cut 18.3 billion ALL from the government’s general expenses. 12- billion will be removed from the public investments, and the other part from operative expenses, local administration funds and other social protection funds, such as energy compensation and the fund for raising wages and pensions.
The budget cuts were a result of the declining revenues, which showed to be much lower than what the government had planned in the beginning of the year, what obliges the government to decrease expenses for keeping the deficit at 3.5% of the GDP.
