The Albanian Parliament replaced the Central Election Commission member
that was elected by the Socialist Movement for Integration, after the
latter changed sides and joined the opposition, only with the majority’s
votes and with the votes of three opposition members who abandoned the
party.

After the altercations seen during this session, the Parliament punished the opposition MPs Gazmir Bizhga, Sajmir Tahiri, Ndrece Deda and Arben Cuko, by temporarily banning them from the Parliament. The decision was published on the Parliament’s website.

“The Parliament’s bureau, led by the Parliament Speaker, reviewed the violent actions of MPs Gazmir Bizhga, Ndrec Deda, Arben Cuko and Sajmir Tahiri. They tried to stop other MPs from exerting their constitutional right to vote. The four MPs took the voting cards of three other MPs, after threatening and offending them.”

After reviewing the circumstances, based on article 65.2 of the Regulation, the Parliament’s Bureau banned MPs Gazmir Bizhga, Ndrec Deda and Arben Cuko for 21 days from the Parliament, and Sajmir Tahiri for 14 days”.
