Papandreu: Rama and Meta must cooperate

“Rama and Meta must cooperate for the next elections.They are both left-winged progressive parties, regardless the divisions”, Papandreu declared, adding that their unification will bring victory and will defeat PM Berisha.

According to the leader of the Socialist International, Albania needs a new left government, while promising support and encouraged cooperation.

“Regardless the differences, the real challenge today is creating a united progressive front, which will enable the country to undertake the necessary reforms and guarantee an honest society with democratic institutions, with transparency and accountability. These reforms are necessary to ensure the EU Candidate Status for Albania and their EU path, in order to guarantee freedom and justice for all Albanians”, Papandreu declared.

Pitela appeals Meta and Rama

The Deputy Prime Minister of the European Parliament, Gianni Pittella, appealed the SP and SMI leaders to unite for the elections of June 23rd.

Referring tot he third failure of the candidate status, Pittella declared that only a progressive socialist government could bring the country out of this deep crisis.

“On behalf of all sincere friends of Albania, and the Albanian Progressive Socialists, I wish to make an appeal to my friends, Edi Rama and Ilir Meta. This is the time when there is no more time to lose for the Albanian people, the Albanian left wing parties, the SP and SMI. They must unite and win. Both leaders should keep going ahead and overcome the problems that keeps them divided, on behalf of their country”, Pittella declared.

Stanishev also asked for cooperation

The President of the European Socialist Party, Sergei Stanishev, launched the same appeal to the leaders of the Socialist Party and the Socialist Movement for Integration. The European left leaders have increased pressures and are asking Rama and Meta to overcome their differences and join in the elections of June 23rd.
