Panariti: The pact is repealed

During a joint press conference with the Foreign Minister of Kosovo,
Enver Hoxhaj, Top Channel asked the Albanian Foreign Minister, Edmond
Panariti, of his concerns about the stance of Netherlands against the EC
progress report about Albania.

“Allow me to say that this is not an official stance of Netherlands, since there are still two months remaining for the final stance. The final verdict will be taken in December and there is still time. For this to get enabled, the Albanian politics must make its homework and pass as soon as possible the remaining laws that require qualified majority and the Parliament’s regulation”, Panariti declared.

Panariti was also asked about yesterday’s declarations of the Greek Foreign Minister, Avramopolus, who said in the Greek Parliament that their northern neighbours are increasing chauvinism.

“I am aware about the declarations of the Foreign Minister Avramopulos regarding his pretences for the increase of chauvinism in the region. I think that on this case he also speaks about Greece, not only the northern neighbours. We must do everything possible to contribute and increase the cooperation and dialogue in order to stop these chauvinist tendencies to which the Greek Foreign Minister refers”, Panariti declared.

Panariti expressed Albania’s posture towards the new developments after signing the oil research agreement in the maritime area between Albania and Greece.

“No economic activity can start in an area where there is no agreement of economic exclusivity. You know that the Albanian Constitutional Court verdict cancels the previous agreement and on this case there is no agreement for the delimitation of waters or the division of areas for an economic character”, Panariti declared.
