Panariti: No new agreement with Athens

The Albanian Foreign Minister, Edmond Panariti, commented the recent
developments regarding the border agreement with Greece, after voices
saying that Athens would send it to the UN.

“There’s no agreement between Albania and Greece for delimiting the maritime border space, because the Constitutional Court decision was direct. We must restart negotiations with Greece in order to reach a stable and mutual agreement. I have no information that such a document has been filed at the UN. We’ll see it when it will be there, and we will release a public statement”, Panariti declared.

Mr.Panariti announced Albania’s official stance regarding Serbia’s ultimatum to remove from Presheva a memorial to the martyrs of the Liberation Army of Presheva, Medveda and Bujanovac.

“Strict positions do nothing good in this situation. I think that both parties must start a dialogue that must involve a package of issues that exists between the Presheva Albanians and the Serbian authorities, which goes beyond the issue of an historic monument. This is unique, because it is part of the historic memory of Albanians and as such it must be treated as something special and with great care”, Panariti declared.
