The Albanian Foreign Minister, Edmond Panariti, participated at the
Ministerial Meeting of the “Ionian-Adriatic Initiative”, from where he
appealed the political forces in our country to find a compromise on the
Parliament’s regulation that enjoy consensus with the opposition.
The Minister reported to the Director-General for Enlargement at the European Commission, Stefano Sannino, about the different steps that are expected from our country.
“We are talking about laws that a-priori, in a Commission level had consensus from the main parties. I hope that this compromise will be reached is such a short time that is left”, Panariti declared for Top Channel.
TCH: You have not reported for crime and corruption, which is required by the Commission together with the three laws.
Panariti: “We have a folder with statistics, and this is updated every day. In the meeting with Sannino we will also discuss about this”.
The Ministerial Meeting of the “Ionian-Adriatic Initiative” that was held in Brussels collected the propositions of the participating countries, including those of Albania, for the planning of a future cooperation strategy.
After this meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Edmond Panariti, talked about his meeting with the Serbian homologue, Ivan Mrkic.
“Mr. Mrkic informed me about the events of international impact, especially the recent decision of the Hague Court for the release of two Croatian generals. He gave me his opinion about this decision, and certainly our position is that we respect the Court of Hague decisions. Then we focused on the cooperation between our two countries and I reiterated the desire to finalize and sign tangible agreements, and not leave our relations only in a good will for cooperation level”, Panariti declared.
During his visit in Brussels, Panariti met the Foreign Ministers of Italy and Slovenia, two countries that support Albania’s EU integration road.
