The Albanian Foreign Minister, Edmond Panariti, declared that the
political dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia must serve to find a
solution for the technical problems, and not for discussing the
territorial integrity of Kosovo.
In an interview for the daily “Express”, Panariti declared that Kosovo’s independence will be soon recognized by Tunisia and another European state.
The Head of the Albanian diplomacy also declared that the recognition of independence was asked by Albania even to the Serbian homologue, Ivan Mrkic, who visited Tirana a few days ago.
“I told Mrkic that this dialogue must be finalized with the recognition of Kosovo by the Serbian state, because this will be the best way for Serbia to reflect for the time passed under the repression, the violence and the genocide caused by the regime of Milosevic”, Panariti declared.
Panariti added that Mrkic answered by saying that our stances on this topic are different. The Foreign Minister explained that Belgrade’s refusal to recognize Kosovo’s independence is withholding the development of Serbia and its European future.
“It keeps tension in the regional situation even with the other countries, hence, I think that with the recognition of Kosovo by Serbia there will be more stability, peace and calmness in the region, and it will also serve to Serbias interests”, Panariti declared.
He greeted the meeting between the Prime Minister of Kosovo and that of Serbia, saying that this is a meeting that should be encouraged, since it helps the solution of the problems between the two countries.
“I think that this is a meeting that must be encouraged, because we are speaking about the Prime Ministers of two sovereign states who meet and dialogue for a series of technical and administrative problems”, Panariti declared.
