The tourist season this year has been characterized by an increase in vacationers’ visits compared to last year.

Despite the large flow in and out, at the land and sea border crossing points, there are no reports of waiting queues, as the border police have increased the staff.

Even this year, the largest number of tourists are from Kosovo. Referring to the figures from May to July, nearly 1.5 million Kosovars entered Albania. After them come the Italians, followed by tourists from Montenegro and North Macedonia, who were in smaller numbers than a year ago.

“The crossing point with the most flow is that of Morina, then comes the airport of Rinas, which has had a lot of traffic this year. The border point of Muriqani and Qafë Thana has also been busy. The Port of Saranda also had an increased flow this year,” said the Director of Border and Migration, Saimir Boshnjaku.

In addition to measures at the border, the state police in cooperation with other institutions has taken care that there are no incidents and the tourists are safe.

“We are engaged in both coastal and mountain tourism to ensure the operators fulfill the rules for a safe tourist season. We patrol the sea with 35 vessels to sanction anyone who does not respect the obligations for sailing at sea or in the lake” – said Boshnjaku.

The police say they are close to the vacationers when they asked for help as there are many cases of providing assistance at sea in critical situations of individuals or vehicles.
