After the consequent protests of disabled people against the reduction
of the compensation for electricity, communication and transport, the
OSCE Ambassador, Eugen Wollfarth, met the head of the National Council
of Disabled People, Sinan Tafaj.

The Head of the OSCE emphasized the need of all inclusion, and he guaranteed that the OSCE would support the disabled people.

“From the view of the OSCE presence in Albania, I would say that it is very important to think what challenges must face a disabled person in order to feel a full member of the society. We are ready to offer support for the disabled people by cooperating with the National Council of Disabled People, and by inviting the Albanian authorities to do the same, together with the other civil society members”, Wollfarth declared.

The head of the National Council of Disabled People, Sinan Tafaj, thanked the OSCE support and declared that they have presented two requests at the Albanian government.

“The UN convention ratification should have a faster progress in Parliament, so that they can continue with the legal reforms, trusting that the convention is a better protection for our rights and the amends will be in accordance with the convention. We have offered to the government and opposition a draft-law regarding the employment of blind and disabled people, such as the license of one o 7 National lottery elements, through which we could create 3000 jobs”, Tafaj declared.

On October, the disabled people have warned new protests regarding the compensation reduction.
