Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future
The Albanian citizens are indifferent to the social initiatives that are
implemented in the community. The Institution for the Development of
Education has recommended the Ministry of Education to teach civil
reaction in schools, in order to create an active society.
For this reason, the Civil Education subject in schools will be changed in 2012.
The project will be supported by the OSCE presence in Tirana. The OSCE Ambassador, Eugen Wolfarth, declared that schools are the place where young people spend most of their time and where they create a system of values and principles.
“Democracies are held on their feet by the citizens that have the necessary knowledge and abilities. The more knowledge and abilities the citizens have, the more stable that democracy be. This project should be seen as a contribution for creating a civil society full of vitality and that supports the political parties, the media and other factors, and that will further solidify the democratic and institutional framework of this country”, Wollfarth declared.
Experts suggested completing the current texts of Civil Education with new citizenship concepts, such as the historical dimensioning of civilization, the European dimension that is related with the creation of more dynamic relations between the present and the future; the global dimension of civilization, with the diversity and multicultural concepts, and the economic dimension that is related with the creation of active and successful individuals in the job market.
