Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The Ambassador of the OSCE presence in Tirana, Eugen Wollfarth declared
that reforms are needed in the judicial system and also training for
the police agents, in order to change the criminal situation in the
country.
He also mentioned the political situation in Albania and the
need for making amends to the Electoral Code before the General
Elections of 2013.
“The significance of law implementation and the rule of law is essential”, he underlined.
Wollfarth was present at the certification ceremony of 60 women who are members of the Municipal and Communal Councils throughout the country, and who participated in the summer school organized by the project for strengthening women’s role in governing structures.
During his speech, the head of the OSCE presence in Albania did not spare criticism regarding the lack of democratic means for choosing candidates and the stalemate found in women’s inclusion in candidates’ list. He emphasized that for reaching a significant legal representation in all legislative, judicial and executive institutions, there is needed a better implementation and possibly a change of the Electoral Code and the respective legislation.
